Requirements:

8+ years of engineering experience

Was involved in critical scalability decisions at previous companies— eg containerization, clustering, data-sync

Worked with fast growing startups and took them to the next level (1 → 10, 10→100)

Based in Europe, Middle East, or Africa timezone

Responsibilities

Own all system architecture & technical strategy — design for scale, resiliency, and rapid iteration, ensuring zero single points of failure.

Lead and mentor an A-class engineering team — recruit, retain, and inspire high-ownership engineers; establish a culture where the team can execute without creating new worries.

Guide engineers hands-on — jump into code reviews, unblock critical issues, and model technical excellence.

Enable AI-assisted engineering at scale — integrate AI coding agents across workflows to increase velocity without compromising quality.

Achieve 100% observability — implement monitoring, logging, and alerting so problems are detected and resolved before they impact users or leadership confidence.

Collaborate at the executive level — proactively surface risks and trade-offs to the CEO and leadership team, offering solutions before problems grow.

Build investor trust — represent engineering to the board and investors, translating technical progress into business impact.

Scale data systems — oversee performance and reliability across our 4TB+ relationship graph in MySQL, Neo4j, and supporting infrastructure.

Who you are

A hands-on technical leader who can dive into code yet think and act like an owner of the entire business.

Deeply experienced in scaling systems — from thousands to millions of users, with mastery of distributed systems and data-intensive architectures. You know how to make trade-off decisions quickly and confidently

You stay level-headed despite heavy engineering weight on your back — from communicating what’s off-track, establishing new processes, dealing with reliability issues, coaching the team, to creatively sequencing team resources for higher output

You’re a structured and exhaustive thinker — you establish frameworks that help align the team and achieve goals faster.
