The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to oversee and lead Zubale’s legal strategy in Brazil. Based in São Paulo, this individual will be responsible for providing proactive legal guidance on all aspects of our operations in the country, with a strong focus on labor and employment law, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.

The Legal Counsel will serve as a strategic partner to leadership and business teams, ensuring that our fast-growing business continues to operate and scale within the legal and regulatory frameworks, while enabling speed, scalability, and innovation.

What you will do

• Legal Strategy & Advisory: Develop and execute Zubale’s legal strategy for Brazil, aligning with global guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
• Labor & Employment: Advise leadership and HR on labor law matters, technology platform matters, independent contractors matters, including union negotiations, employee relations, government initiatives, and go-to market restructuring.
• Litigation Management: Manage labor litigation end-to-end, from strategy to external counsel coordination. Oversee all litigation in Brazil, including labor, civil, and regulatory disputes, ensuring efficient resolution and alignment with company interests.
• Corporate & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant local laws, regulations, and licensing requirements. Advise on contracts, data protection, corporate policies, and risk management.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership, operations, finance, HR, and external counsel to anticipate risks, solve challenges, and enable business growth.
• Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential risks and design mitigation strategies, ensuring Zubale’s resilience and continuity.
• Representation: Represent Zubale in key external interactions with authorities, regulators, and external stakeholders.

What we are looking for

• Law degree from a top Brazilian university; OAB active license required.
• Minimum 8+ years of legal experience, with a strong background in labor and employment litigation.
• Previous experience in fast-paced, high-growth companies (tech, logistics, retail, or startups preferred).
• Deep understanding of Brazilian labor law, litigation procedures, and regulatory environment.
• Proven track record of managing external counsel and complex cases.
• Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risks with business priorities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Bilingual Portuguese and English required; Spanish is a plus.
