Position Description
Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) is an essential phase of any satellite servicing mission. At Starfish we are developing software to guide our Otter servicing vehicle through each stage of RPOD. This includes our CETACEAN relative navigation software and our CEPHALOPOD guidance and control software. This position will support the development of this software. This role may involve tasks ranging from generating/working with synthetic imagery, training computer vision models, refining GNC algorithms, or running simulation analyses.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
  • Willing to work from Tukwila, Washington
  • Engineering or sciences education or experience
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast paced startup environment
  • Capable of writing software
  • Available for a Summer 2026 internship (at least 10 weeks in length)

Desired Experience

  • Enrolled in Aerospace Engineering or similar degree program
  • Programming experience in Python and/or C++
  • Familiar with Astrodynamics, Computer Vision, and/or autonomous navigation
  • Working knowledge of rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking techniques
  • Working knowledge of numerical techniques such as optimization and/or machine learning
