OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth Biosciences is seeking a Research Associate II or Senior Research Associate, LNP (Lipid nanoparticles) Formulation who will be contributing to the LNP formulation and production efforts at Mammoth. In this role, the successful candidate will be contributing to the formulation efforts of Mammoth’s proprietary CRISPR nuclease systems, supporting the formulation and physiochemical characterization of the candidates for a variety of therapeutic indications. In addition, this candidate will be contributing to the analytical method development to support the formulation discovery and production of test articles to support Mammoth’s ex-vivo and in vivo studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work at the direction of Formulation scientists to formulate lipid nanoparticles (LNP) encapsulating nucleic acids
  • Independently analyze the physicochemical properties (size, charge, pH, osmolarity, encapsulation, pKa, etc.) of nanoparticle formulations of nucleic acids
  • Contribute towards developing and optimizing LNP-related Bio/Analytical assays/methods
  • Maintain scrupulous records documenting formulation and characterization/QC activities and results
  • Share responsibility for basic lab management activities (supply ordering, instrument calibration, maintaining schedules)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline with 1+ years of experience or Masters degree in related field
  • Prior experience with at least one of the following analytical methods: HPLC-ELSD, HPLC-CAD, LCMS, LCMS/MS,
  • Prior experience with at least one of the following nanoparticle characterization techniques: Dynamic light scattering (DLS), Zeta potential measurement, Ribogreen assay
  • Prior experience using multi-channel Pipettors and performing 96 well plate-based assays

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in LNP formulation and/or process optimization
  • Prior experience in LC-based analytical method development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A foundation in experimental documentation, basic statistical analysis and data presentation
  • Proficiency at MS Excel, prior experience with advanced analytical software (Prism, JMP)
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce consistent results and effectively communicate them to the team
  • Team player with the ability to multitask, work on fast-paced multiple projects in a collaborative environment
  • Self-motivated and quick learner

Base Salary Range: $ 85,000 - $105,000
The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region.
