As the Head of Communications at HoneyBook, you’ll be responsible for defining and articulating HoneyBook’s vision, mission, and stories both internally and externally. You will lead the development, implementation and execution of comprehensive communication strategies that enhance our brand, engage our community, and elevate our presence in the industry. Your role will involve defining and creating new playbooks and processes for crisis management, internal communications, and executive communications.

Your success will be measured by your ability to drive engagement, influence public perception, and maintain a consistent and compelling brand narrative across all touchpoints. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team where your impact will be tremendous.

Here are a few of the things you will do:

  • Strategic communication planning: define compelling corporate, business and technology narratives that support HoneyBook’s broader narrative and vision.
  • Cross-functional partnership: with leaders - especially marketing and product - to build compelling and strategic communications strategies, campaigns and plans in support of the company overall and specific products and services.
  • Media & public relations: work directly with top tier media to help them be successful and ensure they understand HoneyBook’s vision and progress. You'll drive the development and execution of public relations campaigns to promote brand awareness and manage the company's public image, ensuring consistency with the company's messaging and positioning.
  • Crisis management: develop and implement crisis communication plans, ensuring the company is prepared to address and mitigate potential issues or crises that may arise.
  • Executive communication support: provide strategic communication support to senior executives, including preparing speeches, presentations, and other key communications to effectively represent the company in public forums.
  • Internal communications: you’ll lead the strategy of our internal communications, partnering with our People team to execute, including leadership communications, events,
  • Leadership: though currently an individual contributor role, you’ll build a team of communications professionals who can drive world class communications programs in support of HoneyBook’s business goals. This is a new role for HoneyBook.

Here is what we’re looking for in a candidate:

  • A background in working with SMB or consumer brands, products, or markets where you worked to understand social trends and movements.
  • Experience working in competitive and dynamic industries that garner significant media attention
  • Strong experience shaping and developing narratives that align with the company mission and resonate with audiences.
  • Proven experience as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives.
  • Deep experience building constructive relationships with top tier reporters, editors and influencers.
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, mentoring, coaching and retaining a high-performing communications team. You create a culture of continuous learning from success and failures.

Here is what is needed:

  • Prolific writing skills.
  • 15+ years' marketing experience, with at least 10 years' combined experience in both corporate and consumer communications.
  • 5+ years' management experience - team and external agency.
  • Experience working with technology products and services, preferred.
