Our AI Platform team is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help us make large language models (LLMs) more accessible and mainstream for our engineering teams. This team has already released industry-leading LLMs tailored for legal applications, extracting and summarizing data from complex client documents. You’ll join a multidisciplinary group—data scientists, researchers, software engineers—at the intersection of programming, LLM integration, and iterative experimentation. If you’re excited by generative AI, complex technical challenges, and leveraging technology to improve fairness and accessibility in the legal system, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Spearhead the design, development, and optimization of robust, scalable systems and infrastructure for deploying cutting-edge algorithms and systems built on LLMs.

  • Own the entire project lifecycle, from inception to deployment and beyond—driving continuous improvements and iterations.

  • Collaborate with world-class peers on impactful, varied engineering projects.

  • Partner with internal engineering stakeholders, understanding requirements and addressing them efficiently and at scale.

  • Implement maintainable and reusable code in a modern tech stack, including Python, Postgres, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and related technologies.

What We Look For

  • Extensive experience building frameworks, libraries, and distributed systems with a focus on reliability, observability, and performance.

  • Proven proficiency developing high-quality software—including production-ready code, infrastructure management, and RESTful APIs to industry standards.

  • Structured thinking and a strong track record of delivering complex engineering projects.

  • Startup experience and comfort thriving in fast-paced, collaborative, growth-oriented environments.

  • Expert knowledge of Python or other languages such as Go, Java, or C++.

  • Bonus: Exposure to AI, legal technology, or social impact projects.
