Description

You are looking for a job that will truly engage you. You have an entrepreneurial, independent spirit and can make things happen in a fast-paced startup environment. You want to grow and be challenged, but above all – you want your work to have a real impact on the industry you know best: insurance.

We’re Darrow, a fast-growing legal-risk tech startup with an open, action-based culture. We are committed to pursuing our vision of “frictionless justice” using advanced Machine Learning & AI to revolutionize how legal risk is detected and managed.

Our new Insurance Initiative is building products that empower insurers to quantify risk more accurately, improve risk-related decision-making, protect profitability, and strengthen portfolio resilience. To do this, we’re looking for a senior insurance professional to join our team.

We are expanding and looking for a Strategic Insurance Partnerships Lead to drive our insurance market entry by shaping the right value proposition, testing and refining our strategy with the market, and partnering with our Go-to-Market and Product teams to turn customer insights into high-impact products.

Not Your Typical Role - This is a hybrid role: part market-facing, part product and strategy, and very hands-on.

You will be: Leading our entry into the insurance market - co-owning the go-to-market motion for our insurance initiative together with our Sales team.

The market voice in the room - bringing the perspective of carriers, brokers, and corporate risk/claims teams and ensuring it shapes our strategy, products and GTM.

A core partner to Product and Strategy - translating what you hear from the field into clear product direction, helping define use cases and requirements, and working closely with our Product & R&D teams to build and refine offerings that deliver tangible value to insurance customers.

If you enjoy building something new from the ground up and partnering closely with GTM, Product, and leadership - this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

1. Market Entry & Go-To-Market

  • Lead Darrow’s entry and positioning in the insurance market, with a focus on identifying the right segments, stakeholders, and opportunities.
  • Co-own the go-to-market strategy for the Insurance Initiative together with the Partnerships, Sales, and GTM teams - defining target segments, key personas, clear messaging, and an effective engagement model, and guiding the creation of materials that resonate with insurance stakeholders.
  • Identify and prioritize potential design partners and early adopters in the US insurance market (e.g., P&C carriers, specialty lines), and develop clear engagement plans with them.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders across carriers, brokers, MGAs and corporate risk/legal teams (e.g., Heads of Claims, CUOs, product leaders, GCs, risk managers).

2. Sales Partner & Industry Voice

  • Join our strategy and GTM team in key meetings with potential partners and customers, acting as the insurance subject-matter expert.
  • Define Darrow’s value proposition for the insurance industry.
  • Help structure pilots, design partnerships, and commercial proposals by bringing a practical, market-based perspective.

3. Customer Insight, Product & Strategy

  • Work closely with Product, Data and Strategy teams to deeply understand customer pain points and workflows (claims, underwriting, risk, legal).
  • Bring structured feedback from the field: what customers really need, how they would use the product, and what would make them buy.
  • Help define and refine product requirements, use cases, and success metrics from an insurance and risk perspective.
  • Review prototypes and features to ensure they are “industry-grade” and aligned with market expectations, and act as a thought partner to the Insurance Initiative leadership on market trends, opportunities and priorities.

Requirements

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in the insurance industry, ideally within carriers, brokers, MGAs, or law firms focused on insurance, including senior roles such as Head of Claims, VP/Director for Management Liability/Financial Lines, Product Officer, Senior Claim Counsel, or equivalent.
  • Deep experience in one or more of the following:
  • Management / professional liability, D&O, E&O, transactional risk, financial lines
  • Complex commercial claims, large corporate programs, or specialty risks
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, launch new products, or lead business transformation in an insurance environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Subject-Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of claims, underwriting, policy structures and the commercial realities of carriers and brokers.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect market signals, customer feedback and product direction into clear recommendations.
  • Business & GTM Acumen: Strong business judgment and market understanding, with the ability to help shape go-to-market strategy, refine the value proposition, and guide product direction to support successful market entry and adoption.
  • Market Relationships: Proven experience working with senior stakeholders across the US insurance ecosystem (carriers, brokers, MGAs, corporate risk/legal teams) and building long-term, trust-based relationships.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between insurance, legal and technical teams.
  • Ownership & Execution: Proven track record of taking initiatives from idea to execution in environments with high ambiguity.
  • Collaboration: Enjoys working cross-functionally with GTM, Product, Data, and leadership, and can influence without formal authority.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Preferred: JD or other legal background with a focus on insurance, OR an advanced degree in business, risk management, or related field.

Preferred

  • Prior involvement in building new products, lines of business, or strategic initiatives.
  • Experience working with or alongside insurtech / data / analytics / legal tech solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based products, or strong curiosity and ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth environments.
  • Proven experience working with large corporates and/or Fortune 500 companies (e.g., risk managers, GCs, corporate counsel, brokers).

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental & Vision insurance for you and your dependents.
  • $150 weekly Grubhub credit for lunches.
  • Unlimited paid time off policy.
  • Hybrid work model - onsite 3 days/week.
  • Eligibility to participate in a stock option plan to give our employees a direct stake in Darrow’s success.
  • Darrow provides a reasonable range of compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of pay (base salary) for this role is $160,000 - $200,000.

* Please note that if the years of experience are lower than the required qualifications, the salary range may be adjusted accordingly.
