Position Overview

This position is ideal for a proactive business lawyer who is eager to gain experience and make an impact in a fast-paced global startup environment. As Corporate Counsel, this high-visibility role will be a part of a small, tight-knit Legal Team and will report to the Associate General Counsel. This role will provide negotiation, and business counsel support for key commercial transactions and help mitigate critical legal and business risks. The Corporate Counsel will partner closely with sales, customer success, operations, finance, and other teams to execute on company business objectives and drive legal departmental initiatives.

The Role

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and agreements with customers, vendors, and partners, and manage regulatory, compliance, and operational issues that arise.
  • Support internal colleagues and stakeholders in vetting and engaging external service providers to support their respective business needs.
  • Partner closely with go-to-market and operations teams to proactively manage risks, identify legal issues, and drive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Associate General Counsel and other legal team members to provide strategic legal advice and support on commercial transactions and business initiatives.
  • Help ensure commercial agreement processes and systems scale and evolve to serve new company growth initiatives.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all legal documents and correspondence.
  • Perform other legal duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
  • Strong academic background with a law degree (LLB) or equivalent, and completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial and corporate law, preferably with a combination of a reputable law firm and in-house legal department.
  • Experience negotiating global commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, Services Agreements, Local Adoption Agreements, and vendor/supplier contracts
  • Data privacy experience is a plus

  • Familiarity working across the globe, to support multiple time zones and cultures (the Associate General Counsel is located in the US!)
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of our Platform and business model
  • Self-motivated, energetic, excellent interpersonal, conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to present complex ideas in easy-to-understand language
  • Highly organized and process oriented
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment
