The Position:
The Technical Product Manager will contribute to Veracyte’s success by leading the product strategy, development, and lifecycle management of our EHR interconnect service, enabling seamless integration with electronic health record systems to support diagnostics workflows. This role focuses on bridging technical and business needs to enhance interoperability, data exchange, and user experience in a healthcare environment. In addition to core product management duties, the Technical Product Manager will collaborate closely with engineering, clinical, and commercial teams to drive adoption of standards-based solutions that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. This is a strategic role supporting Veracyte’s broader digital transformation in diagnostics.
This position is based out of our San Diego office (hybrid) and we are open to remote (US, PST ideal).
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the EHR interconnect service, prioritizing features based on business value, user needs, and technical feasibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data, clinical, and sales, to gather requirements, translate them into user stories, and ensure alignment with Veracyte’s diagnostics ecosystem.
- Conduct market analysis, competitive research, and user feedback sessions to identify opportunities for enhancing interoperability, such as improving order receipt and result delivery processes.
- Oversee the integration of healthcare standards and protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements like HIPAA and interoperability mandates.
- Design and implement product features that leverage FHIR for efficient data exchange between Veracyte’s diagnostics products and external EHR systems.
- Evaluate and integrate APIs, workflows, and tools to support real-time order processing and result reporting.
- Work with stakeholders to define success metrics, such as integration speed, error rates, and adoption rates.
- Provide technical guidance on diagnostics-specific use cases, including patient data handling and result interpretation.
- Support the development and refinement of product strategy and policies.
- Partner with leadership to align EHR interconnect initiatives with Veracyte’s overall digital and data strategies.
- Recommend best practices for scalability, security, and user-centric design in healthcare integrations.
- Facilitate training and documentation for internal teams and external partners on the interconnect service.
- Mentor junior product team members and foster collaboration across disciplines to promote innovation and continuous improvement.
- Scrum product owner for EHR integration team.
- Host of scrum backlog grooming and daily stand-up meetings.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on technical products in healthcare or software integration.
- Proven experience with healthcare interoperability standards, particularly FHIR, including hands-on work with API development or integration.
- Preference for candidates with prior experience in healthcare environments and FHIR-based systems; ideal candidates will have worked on diagnostics products using FHIR for receiving orders and delivering patient results.
- Familiarity with EHR systems; experience with Epic Aura is valuable but not required.
- Strong technical proficiency, including understanding of APIs, data modeling, cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP), and software development lifecycle.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, regulated industry.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
