Job Description: Veracyte is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Operations Associate to join our Equipment Engineering and Operations team at our South San Francisco headquarters. The Equipment Operations Associate’s primary responsibility is to provide support in the equipment lifecycle and maintenance/metrology program. Working under supervision, this entry-level position is responsible for assisting in the coordination, execution, and documentation of equipment-related activities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn foundational skills needed to grow within the Equipment Engineering discipline.
Location: This is an onsite position based out of our South San Francisco location
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination, scheduling and/or execution of equipment preventive maintenance, calibrations, verifications, and qualifications to ensure minimal disruption to lab operations and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Participate in the installation, relocation, and decommissioning of lab instruments under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support tracking and documentation of equipment service events, calibration records, and qualifications in compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, IVD, and/or RDA regulations).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including R&D and Clinical teams) and external vendors to facilitate timely and efficient service activities.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause investigations of equipment failures while escalating equipment issues or deviations as needed.
- Adhere to procedures and policies outlined within Veracyte’s quality management system.
Who You Are:
- High school diploma required. Associate’s or BS/BA in Engineering field preferred.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory or regulated environment (internship experience accepted).
- Basic understanding of laboratory instrumentation and preventive maintenance concepts.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficient with common software tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CMMS, LIMS, or equipment tracking tools.
- Working knowledge of root cause analysis tools (e.g. 5 whys, fishbone, FMEA).

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
