The Position:
Location: This is an onsite, hybrid position based in our San Diego location. This role will require about 25% travel.
Veracyte Inc. is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to oversee all aspects of global transportation, logistics, and inventory operations across our CLIA-certified LDT laboratories and international IVD supply chain. This role will lead the design and execution of a robust global logistics strategy, ensuring on-time delivery, inventory optimization, trade compliance, and cost efficiency across our distributed network of CMOs, clinical sites, and 3PLs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end transportation management including freight forwarding, cold chain logistics, and final mile delivery across domestic and international routes.
- Manage all 3PL relationships, SLAs, performance metrics, and escalation protocols.
- Partner with procurement and operations to optimize Incoterms, landed cost models, and shipment visibility.
- Implement proactive risk mitigation plans for transportation disruptions and customs delays.
- Oversee inventory control strategies across warehouses, 3PLs, CMOs, and clinical sites.
- Optimize inventory placement, reorder points, and safety stock in alignment with forecasted demand.
- Implement real-time inventory visibility dashboards and traceability for regulated materials.
- Partner with Finance, and Procurement to optimize working capital while ensuring continuity of supply.
- Serve as the global trade compliance lead, owning import/export controls, HTS classification, ECCN, DG regulations, and broker management.
- Design and execute a scalable global logistics strategy to support high-volume assay growth and international IVD distribution.
- Ensure accurate and compliant shipping documentation across international shipments of diagnostic materials and kits.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators, materials handlers, and potential expansion roles.
- Collaborate with IT and ERP stakeholders to improve logistics-related workflows and system integration (e.g., NetSuite, LIMS, 3PL inventory).
- Provide clear, data-driven reporting to executive leadership on logistics performance and opportunities for improvement.
Who You Are:
- 10+ years of experience in global logistics, transportation, and inventory management, preferably within biotechnology, diagnostics, or life sciences.
- Proven track record managing 3PLs, global freight, cold chain, and trade compliance in a regulated environment.
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), inventory tracking platforms, and data dashboards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working with CLIA labs and IVD product distribution.
- APICS, Six Sigma, or similar supply chain/logistics certification.
- Familiarity with US FDA, EU MDR/IVDR, and other regulatory shipping requirements (DOT, IATA).

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
